Translation and the formation of networks of human and nonhuman actors.
Overview
Callon examines how actors define problems, propose roles for others, and attempt to build durable associations. His study of scallops, researchers, and fishers describes translation through problematisation, interessement, enrolment, and mobilisation. It provides a route into actor-network theory by showing how representation and coordination must be achieved rather than assumed.
