The Strong Programme and sociological explanations of knowledge.
Overview
Bloor made scientific knowledge an object of sociological explanation. In Knowledge and Social Imagery, the Strong Programme calls for causal, impartial, symmetrical, and reflexive accounts of belief: accepted and rejected claims both require explanation. This offers a route into the sociology of scientific knowledge, including debates about evidence, social interests, and objectivity.
